Goodreads Synopsis:

Plucky Gon’s quest to find his dad leads him into a whole world of crazy adventure.

Hunters are a special breed, dedicated to tracking down treasures, magical beasts, and even other people. But such pursuits require a license, and less than one in a hundred thousand can pass the grueling qualification exam. Those who do pass gain access to restricted areas, amazing stores of information, and the right to call themselves Hunters.

All aboard the Black Whale, because the journey to the Dark Continent is beginning! And this will be anything but a pleasure cruise, because the King of Kakin has ordered his princes to fight to the death to succeed him—on the ship! But this won’t be an ordinary battle. They’ll be using hired guards with fantastic powers to fight! Including Kurapika and some of the Zodiac members!

Review:

I haven't read or watched any of this series. Jumping into this volume... This is a very weird series, weird characters in an odd setting.
We're in a tournament-style fight, where Chrollo and Hisoka are against each other, possibly to the death. After that, there's a titanic-like spaceship that's taking some special people off to a new planet. It's clear that bad things are planned for this, though it's unclear who is planning and who is on which side; who knows and who doesn't. Kurapika is on the case.
There are some weird-a characters in this series. It's a weird concept behind the whole thing, as far as I can tell. The whole battle in itself was crazy, too. Violent and weird, and then they got the audience involved. It was bad.
This is definitely a shonen series I don't follow, and it's not something I would look for. If you like these kinds of stories, then I can see the appeal, though. Sometimes crazy weird is fun.
