Review:

I respect how this series ended, which is probably an odd thing to say.

This started with Asuka declaring that she knew what she wanted, which was to marry and be a homemaker, and with Ryu stating he didn't want to marry. They've both been through quite a bit, though it might have dragged on in some places. I appreciate that Asuka decided she might need to do something else for now, and that she didn't think she and Ryu could be together, given how differently their wants were.

I think it made sense, how things play out from there. Asuka ended up going down a different path than she expected, and I think she was happy with that. I'm glad that the drama with Kamiya was actually resolved, finally. The relationship between Asuka and Ryu was resolved sweetly, too, and I'm happy with their ending. They kind of both needed to do their own thing for a while, before they could finally meet in the middle, and that made sense.

Parts of this series seemed to drag on, and then the ending came quicker than I expected, but overall I'm happy with how it ended. It didn't feel rushed, and it made sense for the characters, so I can appreciate that.

Review:

Now they're officially long-distance, and they have to deal with the trials of that. Ryu is busy working overseas, and Asuka is working, too—but she's struggling with the separation more. She has to sleep in their apartment, by herself, now. They do get to see each other when they make the trip—though that can be hit or miss. And they talk on the phone and video a lot, but that can only do so much.

Asuka gets lonely. But she doesn't want to be the reason that Ryu misses promotions and more exciting opportunities. But on the other hand—which Asuka isn't really seeing—Asuka is becoming the first woman to make Ryu consider other options.

The cliffhanger in this volume isn't surprising, but it is hard. I'm not sure how Ryu is going to react, really. It could go either way, but I don't think this series is ending soon.

Although, I also don't really care for Asuka's other option of suitor, honestly.

Update: I was wrong. Apparently the next volume is the last one. So. Hm. Good, I suppose, that means this plot won't drag on much longer, then. Hopefully it won't be rushed, either.

Review:

They're finally getting settled living together, and then Ryu gets offered a promotion, which includes a transfer to America for who knows how long. They discuss and consider it, and then they get to savor the little time they have together until he leaves. Now they get to stick it out long distance, and see how that works. It's a bit emotional for them, but they're trying, and they believe they can do it.

While I do like how they calmly discuss things and try to compromise, marriage is a constant issue between them. And then there's Kamiya, who's been hanging out in the background for a while, but will just not go away. It's clear how he keeps trying to push Asuka, and I don't like it at all. It mostly annoys me that she keeps letting him do it, only brushing him off and yet continuing to meet up with him and converse when they run into each other. It's clearly bad for her relationship, bad for her thoughts, and yet she keeps doing it.

I'm starting to feel like this series needs to end soon. We can only prolong this plot line for so long, and it's growing a bit stale to me. I'm still enjoying reading it, it's just getting a bit repetitive in the drama.

Review:

I enjoyed the first half of this volume quite a lot. There was some more drama regarding them as a couple, and their living situations, and their differing wants and how someone else wants to fulfill Asuka's.

Though I am enjoying all of this, and I do really like the mature relationship in this series, some of this drama is starting to feel very repetitive and a bit annoying.

While this series has mostly felt more mature in how it handles things, some of that has seemed to waver a bit lately. When Asuka starts worrying a bit about her family finding out about Ryu, and what happens when her brother meets him. Mostly I'm annoy that Asuka is an adult and can do whatever she wants with her life.

Aside from that one point, I liked the progress in their relationship in this volume. They took a few steps forward, I think, and did their best to prove and decide what they want with each other, and why they're good together. Even if I didn't care for the brother plot line, I do think it made them think about some of these things, or acknowledge them at least.

This volume was a bit weak, but otherwise I liked it.

Review:

We find out just how serious Kamiya is about his proposal to Asuka in this volume. And he's more serious than I expected. He's going to more devious levels to get into Asuka's head, and he's rather upfront about his wants, even to Ryu.

I do like how stern Asuka is about his advances, but at the same time, I don't think she's being completely honest with Ryu. And I think that Kamiya is messing with her head more than she wants to admit. I don't like it.

I do like seeing how firm Ryu is about them, though. He's very insistent about his feelings and his want to be with Asuka. I like seeing that.

Near the end of the volume, it drifts to seeing Ryu's work day, and we see just how busy he is and how maturely he handles it. He's got a new guy under him, and I like seeing how Ryu is challenging the guy, and pushing the boundaries. Ryu's good at what he does, and it's obvious.

A new volume of this is always good. I hope we get more series like it.

Review:

The situation between Ryu and his ex is very clearly bad and dangerous. I don't at all like the way she is hanging around, and the dangerous situations she's put him in. I do think, though, that things might be on the way to better by the end of the volume, and I like Asuka's stance on it.

Then Ryu and Asuka's picture is taken, though her face is conveniently blurry, and they have to be careful and take a short break from being with each other. There's another cliffhanger at the end, though I don't quite think it'll be too serious.

I really like this series. I get excited for each volume, and I really hope more like it get picked up. I love the maturity and the serious relationship--getting both characters' points of view, and that there isn't too much exaggeration.

Review:

This is the josei manga I've been wanting them to publish all along. I love it.

We get some third party interruptions in this volume. Ryu runs into his ex again, and there's rumors about them, and conflicting emotions inside him regarding her. She's a mess and he's being pushed to help her, while at the same time trying to stay true to Asuka.

Asuka, on the other hand, has been proposed to by a man who wants the same things as her—for her to be a homemaker, married with a husband. It's making her reconsider her real feelings behind wanting to be married and be a homemaker, and if it really is about a specific guy or not.

It's interesting to see their conflicts about what's happening, their insecurities, and the ways that they find comfort in each other, even in just holding each other. It's heartwarming, honestly, and really sweet to see it.

I love the maturity in all of this. Everything is handled with real thought and consideration, no freaking out for no reason and making rash, mindless decisions.

I just want more books like this, and more of this series in particular. I get excited every time a new volume arrives.

I can’t believe how much I’m loving this series so far, and it’s just started.

Asuka and Ryu have started dating, because they love each other even though they want different things in a relationship. In this volume, they’re getting settled into the relationship, and having trouble finding the time for each other. They have some troubles, and Asuka wants to take things a little slower than Ryu does, at first at least.

It’s surprisingly hot, several scenes in this volume. But even during that, they’re sweet together, and I love seeing their relationship grow. I like that we get equal time with each character, and get to see from both of their sides. The humor is nice, and not very exaggerated. It’s realistic, and relatable.

I am quite loving this series, and can’t wait for the next volume.

Review:

Josei books tend to be a hit or miss for me, but I’m always hopeful. This one turned out surprising in how much I enjoyed it.

Asuka is a successful business woman, but all she wants is to get married and be a homemaker. It’s her dream, but most people don’t understand that anymore. Ryu, on the other hand, doesn’t want to be in a relationship, he in fact never wants to get married.

We get both perspectives here, and I like how understanding both of them are. Ryu isn’t some domineering alpha, he’s genuinely a nice guy and a hard worker, and even though he wants the opposite of Asuka, he never puts down her wants and even understands her dreams.

They’re both very likeable characters, and it’s clear that their friendship forms fast and honest. They have a nice first meeting, and then keep running into each other. They have nice meetings afterward, they defend each other even when they have disagreements, and they keep going back to hang out.

Much like their friends, in the same position as them and just starting to date, they decide to give it a try. There’s no over exaggerating at the littlest touch, and it’s sweet when they do kiss.

I was really impressed with this volume, it was relatable and enjoyable. I’m really looking forward to the next one.

Why?:

I pick up any series Shojo Beat releases, and any time I hear of a josei-type series I get even more interested. I’m a little wary of this one, unsure if it’ll be good characters or writing, because they tend to be very hit or miss. But it looks okay, and I’m being optimistic about it.
