Review:
After reading
Kato’s short story collection, Time Killers, I was really looking forward to picking up her full series. I was
impressed with that book, and interested in reading this series. I had almost
picked it up a few times before, but I’m glad I finally got to it.
We’re thrown into
the story pretty quickly. We meet Rin, who’s not going to school or working,
and is living with Father Fujimoto, along with his twin brother. And then we
find out who Rin’s real father is, along with a surprising reveal about Rin and
his brother. Which is how the exorcist ordeal gets thrown in, us finding things
out along with Rin, about himself and the world.
There’s some humor
here, but mostly a lot of frustration and hurt that needs worked through. I
like Rin, and what he’s decided to do about himself and his father. His brother
seems interesting, and I also know that there are a bunch of other characters
yet to be met, so I’m looking forward to that.
The story throws us
in pretty quickly, and now there’s a lot of things to develop and grow and
expand on.
I have a bit of
this series still to catch up on, and I’m excited to do so.
Also, I was surprised to see a color page at the beginning of the volume. It was very pretty.
